The Lords
De Heeren: where secrets are revealed during the most delicious dishes, where the truth lies in wine and time is only a concept.
Old-fashioned cozy - Burgundian enjoyment: that is coming home to De Heeren.
It started about 50 years ago. At the time, a wine cellar was opened in the building of 'De Heeren' where exclusive wines were sold, under the supervision of the manager of Zuikertuintje; Toffee Hofland. These exclusive wines were removed from the cellar 5 years later and space was made for a real disco night club, as the disco craze reached its peak in the mid-1970s.
Years flew by of delicious disco hits and balmy summer evenings ...
But that came to an end in 1995, when Sebastian established his butcher shop in the building. The most delicious meats and cheeses on the island were sold here. The fish palace of Diana Mooiman was later added to this, where the real fish lover enjoyed his portion of kibbeling every week.
After months of hard work, the former fish palace was transformed into a true Grand Café. The basis of 'De Heeren' was laid in the picturesque Zuikertuinje. In the years that flew by, new friends were made, loves arose and new generations found their way. However, one thing was always central to this: De Heeren. Because as the clock ticks at home, it kept ticking at De Heeren.
In 2018 it was also time for De Heeren to grow with the years. Traces would not be obliterated. Memories would be cherished and the feeling of home would only take on a new dimension. Nostalgia would be preserved; that was the promise. With this aim, De Heeren opened its 'new doors' in April 2018: With a playful twist and plenty of news to discover, we would like to welcome you quickly in our living room.
